Subtitled
'The Confessions of an Accidental Porn Director', this is a
book guaranteed to itrritate anyone who has worked in the adult
industry - esspecially if they'd had to struggle along the way.
One
the one hand, it's an easy-to-read, sometimes amusing story
of how a former musician launched his own porn movie empire
without knowing what he was doing. As such, it's fair enough
– lightweight, but entertaining.
But 'Anonymous' is not a sympathetic protagonist. He claims
to be a huge porn fan yet doesn't even know what bukkake is;
moans about losing money during his early months of production,
yet has plenty of wealthy chums on hand to find £50,000
investment for him and seems to have an endless supply of mates
who work in the City with country houses or luxury apartments
to use as locations – all the while fretting about what
people think and seemingly looking down on everyone else in
the industry.
And
although he claims his films are a cut above the norm, his own
descriptions make them sound like the worst examples of 1980’s
British softcore – with added fucking, sucking and pissing.
Hardly the films you'd expect wrapped in such minimalist (some
might say ridiculously dull) sleeves.
