THE CHRISTY REPORT
Taschen
This
massive 608 page book, edited by famed porn director Kim Christy,
is a feast of porn - from the turn of the (20th) century to
the modern day.
Split
into decades, each section has a brief text introduction, but
primarily comprises of graphic, startling imagery which tracks
the development of photographed erotica - from the clandestine
stag images of the 20's and 30's, through the cheesecake of
the 50's, the kink of the 60's, the naturalistic hardcore of
the 70's, the big-haired smut of the 80's and the high gloss,
mainstreamed porn of the 90's.
The
photos run the gamut of erotic expression, but by the end of
the 1960's, they have become hardcore. Nothing is censored here
- you get anal, oral, cum-shots and even transsexuals, as well
as bondage and fetish shots. Some of the images are from magazines,
others from movies.
Porn
fans can have fun spotting favourite stars and favourite movies.
Christy's own work is represented of course - there are several
shots from the surreal (and rare) Squalor Motel as well as the
director's transsexual / trans-gender movies. For years, many
fans have wonderd if Christy was male, female or - given the
nature of the work - somewhere in between. Amusingly, the biography
in this book avoids the issue. The truth is out there if you
care to look, but I won't spoil your illusions!
This
gorgeous book is a gift to porn fans, presented in the usual
Taschen style. It's probably the most graphic thing you'll find
in a mainstream bookstore, and is is must have item.
